Winter Hiking Gear Gifts
A few years ago, my husband wanted to start adding winter hiking to his activity list. We are lucky to live in an area of the country that has a lot of options when it comes to enjoying sports and health and fitness in the great outdoors.
Within a 2 hour drive, we can be in the gorgeous Adirondack Mountains to skate, ski, snowshoe or hike.
One item on my husband's wish list for years has been a set of snowshoes. Last winter, I was able to finally check off that much-wanted item!
I was so happy he was able to use them and enjoyed a great season trekking through some beautiful trails!

Black Diamond Raven Ice Axe– When hiking in the backcountry, especially during winter months, many times you can run into steep ice-faces. So for safety reasons, it's a great idea to have this item in your pack. This item SAVED my husband a few times!!!
Feather Light Down Jacket– It's important to have a warm jacket, but during activity, you want something light. This is a perfect weight jacket that still provides the warmth you need.
Boots- ASOLO Men's TPS 520 GV EVO Backpacking Boots are my husband's preferred winter hiking boot. They work great for hiking in the snow and also when strapped into his snowshoes.
Microspikes- KAHTOOLA MICROspikes are also essential for winter hiking as it helps with traction when on the trails.

Absolutely! Winter hiking is an amazing way to experience the great outdoors. It gets you out into nature, fills your lungs with fresh air and offers postcard-like views. As long as you are prepared for the weather and have the proper gear, you will enjoy hiking fun all winter long.
