Cheeseburger cookies are perfect for parties, kids' events, barbecues, or simply as a fun project to enjoy with your kids. These no-bake mini hamburger cookies are easy to make and fun to eat too! With a few vanilla wafers, chocolate cookies, and frosting, this unique cookie recipe will be a perfect addition to the dessert table.

My kids have enjoyed making these adorable hamburger cookies since kindergarten. These mini cookies have been requested for many a school party or picnic, especially for Memorial Day and the 4th of July. And the best part? They are no-bake!
Kid-Friendly Cheeseburger Cookies
Kids love to help in the kitchen and even more so when they create a fun treat to share! This mini hamburger cookie recipe is a great twist on the classic sugar cookie recipe.
I like the fact that there is no baking involved and the kids could have fun making their favorite toppings of “cheese”, “lettuce”, and a “sesame seed bun”. They really are a tasty treat and so much fun to make! My family likes cheeseburgers, so our cookies always have cheese instead of mustard!
Ingredients
To make your very own batch of no-bake hamburger cookies, you will need the following ingredients:
- Vanilla wafer cookie (buns)
- Chocolate grasshopper cookie (patties)
- Green-colored coconut flakes (lettuce)
- Red and yellow icing (ketchup and mustard)
- Sesame seeds (optional, for bun decoration)
- Honey
Assemble Your Hamburger Cookies
- In 2 separate bowls, place 2-3 Tablespoons of white frosting in each. In the first bowl, place 1 drop of red food coloring and 1 drop of yellow coloring in the frosting and stir. Play with colors 1 drop at a time until the mixture looks the color of yellow American cheese. In the second bowl of frosting, place 1-2 drops of green coloring and stir. Play with color until the mixture looks the color of lettuce.
- Place 1 Tablespoon of honey in a small dish.
- Take two vanilla wafer cookies and 1 chocolate cookie. On the flat side of the vanilla wafer spread about 1/8 of a tsp of orange frosting. On the second vanilla wafer (flat side) spread about 1/8 tsp of green frosting.
- Place chocolate cookie (hamburger patty) between the two frosted cookies and squeeze together gently- just until frosting oozes out the sides. You may need a little more frosting- after making a few you will get the hang of how much you will need.
- Dip a toothpick in honey and “paint” a small amount on top of the cookie (the “bun”). Sprinkle sesame seeds on top of honey (this helps the seeds to stick to the bun).
- Repeat with remaining cookies and frosting.
Tips for Customizing Your Hamburger Cookies
- Get creative with toppings: If you want to add “shredded lettuce” as a topping, place coconut in a small dish and add a few drops of green food coloring and stir.
- Add yellow frosting only for mustard instead of cheese.
- Add red frosting only to mimic ketchup.
Other Fun Recipes to Try:
Serving and Storing Cookie Burger
Once you've assembled all of your little hamburgers, they are ready to be enjoyed! Load them up on a cookie tray or small foil pan to serve at your next summer bbq. These cute cookies do get a bit soft from the honey and frosting and are best consumed within a few days.
You can store them in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain their freshness.
Aren't these cookies that look like hamburgers just adorable?? Prepare for lots of “ooh's and ahhs” when your guests arrive or when handing your “burgers” to your hostess.
It was always fun to see the expression of pride and accomplishment on my kids' faces when they received credit for making something so fabulous!
