Instructions
Make the sauce first.
Stir together the 1/3 cup BBQ sauce and 2 tablespoons ranch dressing in a small bowl. Set it aside. This takes about 30 seconds and it is one of those things you will want to put on everything.
Mix the burgers.
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, BBQ sauce, ranch dressing, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and garlic. Mix until everything is just combined. Do not overwork the meat or the burgers will be tough.
Form the patties.
Scoop out a heaping 1/4 cup of the beef mixture and roll it gently into a ball. Flatten it with your palm into a patty about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Make a small indent in the center with your thumb. This keeps the burger from puffing up in the middle on the grill. Repeat with remaining beef.
Grill.
Preheat your grill to medium-high. Cook patties 4 to 5 minutes per side for medium, or until they reach your preferred doneness. In the last minute of cooking, lay a slice of cheddar on each patty and close the lid to melt.
Build the burger.
Toast your buns on the grill for about 30 seconds. Spread the special sauce on both sides of the bun. Add lettuce, the burger, tomato, and any other toppings you love.
