Cups
slices apples
about 6 medium apples **I also use a mixture of apple types for this recipe. Macs and Cortlands are my favorite baking apples.

flour

brown sugar
firmly packed
1/2

oats
3/4
tsp
cinnamon

tsp
nutmeg
1/3
cup
butter
chilled and sliced

Instructions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Butter bottom and just up the sides of 9×9 baking dish. (If using a dark or non-stick pan, decrease oven temp to 325)
Peel, core and slice apples thin.
Place in even layer in buttered pan.
Mix together flour, sugar, oats, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Place in slices of butter and with a pastry blender or two knives, cut in butter to mixture until crumbly.
Pour mixture over apples, making sure all apples are covered.
Bake for 30 minutes.
This is super delicious served hot with vanilla ice cream.
