Today is a BIG day for me in the bloggy world. I am the Featured Blogger with the SITS Girls!! WooHoo!! I am so excited to start 2012 on such a positive foot forward.
Is this your first visit here to Mom Got Blog? Welcome! Thank you so much for stopping over. I really do appreciate it. I want to meet you and visit your site too, so please feel free to poke around and be sure to leave a comment, even if it is just to say “Hi!”
What will you find here? A lot. Nothing geared toward a particular niche, because I find I am interested in too many areas to really focus on ONE subject, so I’ve created a space that provides an organized potpourri of things falling into three main categories; life stories, food/recipes and health/fitness. I guess you could say I am a blogging guru’s worst nightmare by breaking the mold that is “supposed” to be followed. On the flip side of that is blogging has no rules and that is where I fit in. Rule breaker. I feel like such a rebel typing that!
Honestly? I have asked readers many times in the two years of blogging to let me know what they would like to see more of on Mom Got Blog and the answers are always the same…”I like that you write about different things; it’s what keeps me coming back because your content is always fresh.”
You will definitely find writing. This past summer I realized I am not getting any younger (I’m 44) and if I wanted to make my dream of writing books a reality, then something needed to change. With the support of a wonderful husband and two teens, I began my new career of freelance writing. I like to participate in writing prompts because it allows me to create and explore different characters. One story in particular sparked such positive feedback that I am now making it my first novel. You can read the first entry of Day Tripper here.
If you have clicked on my “About“ page, you will also see that health and fitness play a big part in my life too. In fact I should update that…I am no longer competing in the sport of short-track speedskating. I have given myself a “self-imposed” retirement, at least for a few more years. In the meantime, I’m still on the ice, only now as a certified ref. I took up running again on a more serious basis and completed my first marathon and half-marathon. It was an experience I will never forget.
I also love to bake, cook and eat; a die hard foodie through and through. Want some really good recipes? Then check out my Mom Got Food section. I am sure you will find something to try and guarantee you will like it. I have always enjoyed photography, but lately a new found passion for food photography has taken hold. With my iphone in hand I am always snapping pics of outstanding food. If you want to eat your screen, then I have succeeded in taking a great picture. In fact, this photo of a sandwich I had for lunch one day sparked a follow from Haas Avocado.
Do you have some great recipes? Let me know! I love to experiment in the kitchen!
I hope you have found something that you liked reading and you will come back for more! Seems Google is changing and getting rid of the Friend Connect Box, so if you like what you find, please subscribe to Mom Got Blog via email or RSS to stay up to date with the latest happenings. Both are located in the sidebar to the right.
You know, SITS is one of the very first sites I began to follow. They are so supportive and are just awesomesauce. Every. single. one. of. them. They have taught me so much, but most of all, that blogging can be what you make of it. I am proud of the space created here and having a community that is so supportive of my “life niche”.
For now, I’m going to soak in feeling like Mary Tyler Moore and toss my hat in the air singing “You’re gonna make it after all…”
Because highlighted by the SITS Girls makes feel like a rock star.
