Cappuccino, How I love Thee

I love my coffee but there is a special place in my heart for cappuccino. There is nothing better to take care of a mid-day slump than a perfectly brewed coffee, with thick crema, foamy milk and a pinch of raw sugar. I broke down and bought this Nespresso maker {affiliate link!}for Christmas two years ago and it has paid for itself and then some. We use it every day and just love it. If you are in the market for a good espresso &/or cappuccino maker, then give one of these a whirl. You won't be sorry!

My secret tool for getting perfect foamy milk? My Aerolatte wand. I found this at the kitchen ware store I work in and it is awesome! Best thing since sliced bread I tell ya.

So, after a long, long week, I took 10 minutes, closed the computer, put my feet up and I sipped from the cup pictured above. Perfecto!

You Say Tom-ayto, I say Tom-ahto

So, last month, I shared on our Instagram page (Give us a follow!) a picture of a tomato I had on the windowsill. Now, it wasn't there THAT long, but apparently long enough for THIS to happen!

Yep- that is a seedling that popped out of my tomato!! As you can see, the stem is STILL GREEN, so, yeah wasn't sitting for that long. And, if you look closely, you will see a bunch of black dots just under the skin. It wasn't mold and when I ran my fingers over it was actually bumpy. Many folks chimed in on Facebook (Have you liked us there? Join in- it's fun! ) to plant it to see what happened…

Well, I was curious as to what the black bumps were, so I carefully cut open the fruit and found a BUNCH of tomato seedlings growing inside!

I plopped them into a planter and waited to see what would happen…and guess what??

They are growing!!!

My very own Frankenfruit tomato plants!! Now to see if there is enough time in the growing season to see if they will actually produce tomatoes! I'll keep you updated!

I  shared a recipe or two earlier in the week. I did not plan for the posts to go back to back, but they did, so in case you missed it- we had a post about a new delicious ice cream from Lactaid that is pretty awesome. And FYI- if you serve a 1/2 cup on a gluten-free ice cream cone it's only 2 points on Weight Watchers.

Cone with scoop melted ice cream

Yes. This was only 2 points! 🙂

bruschetta pasta

I also shared a great recipe and some tips with my Fresh Bruscetta Pasta dish. Yum!

We moved the youngest into college and I still haven't recovered. This is why I'm talking about coffee and tomatoes.

That's all we have for this week. Be sure to follow us on our Instagram and Facebook to keep up with the latest! And, if you try one of our recipes, please let us know!

One of the things that I really miss, since giving up refined sugar & flour, is a sweet cappuccino on the weekends . . . you're right, a good crema with a hint of sugar . . . oh, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Yes- the treat for me is the pinch of raw sugar. Don't need much, just enough to take the bite out of the last sip! :)
