Countdown to Food & Wine Conference 2015!
The countdown has begun; 47 sleeps until we take off to sunny Florida to enjoy our very first food conference! Yes, I am so happy to share that Eat Picks is an ambassador for the Food & Wine Conference 2015, and over-the-moon-excited to meet new foodies and friends. I’ve been to many conferences, but this is my very first revolved around food.
The Birth of A Food Blog
When I started blogging, what now seems to be ages ago, it was to share the thoughts on everyday life and cover my beloved sport of speedskating. You may not have even realized it, but I’ve always had a food blog. When I started my old blog called Mom Got Blog, I had a side gig called The Cook & The Baker where I shared family recipes and the stories behind them. It was small, but when it started to pick up momentum, I decided to fold it into the main blog under Mom Got Food. This seemed to satisfy the palate for a while as I could still write about my love of food, only now it was in one place rather than two. Notice I said, “For a while.”
I began to realize I was writing more and more about food than anything else, so I started another side blog, and soon Eat Picks was born and became our permanent home.
How did I end up getting involved with the Food & Wine Conference? Well, way back in 2009, I made a friend on Twitter. Her name was Isabel, also known as Family Foodie, and we would have the best conversations about food & family, and of course shared a recipe or two. While I took the long, round- about journey to end up focusing on food, she held her course steady and built a fabulous community and a few years ago, this conference! When I learned we were both attending a trip last fall visiting pork farms I was so happy we would finally have an opportunity to meet in person. She is just as lovely as I imagined! While on our way to one of the farms, I asked her to tell me all about her new conference and it was then that she planted the seed of “You should definitely come! We would love to have you there.”
Isabel did not have to twist my arm very hard! For being a young conference, it amazes me that each year looks better than the last, so I have no doubt this will be a fantastic trip. Would you like to get your “foodie” on? You can join me this July at the Beautiful Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, FL as we all eat, drink and be merry. As an Ambassador, I have a special code you can use to save on your registration! Use code FWC15puglk and save $50!
Speakers, Sponsors & Recipe Contests!
Isabel and her team have a super program set for this year- the speakers are fantastic, and the sponsors are as well. And what food conference doesn’t have a recipe contest? Food & Wine Conference has not one, but FOUR! Get your creative juices flowing and enter!
Here is a list of current recipe contests:
Certified Angus Beef Brand Recipe Contest
Idaho Potato Commission Recipe Contest
Dixie Crystals Chocolate Dessert Recipe Contest
Wisconsin Cheese Recipe Contest
I really cannot express how excited I am to attend this! Making new connections, learning from top chefs and so much more! You can follow along for all the latest and greatest all over social media using the hashtag #FWCon and watching Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Google+, and of course the Food & Wine Conference 2015 website.
Never did I dream that 6 years after typing my first post, I would still be sitting in front of the computer sharing my true passion for food and photography. Yet, here I am doing just that and I’m so incredibly happy that you have stuck around to support this passion! If you are able to make it to Florida in July, I hope we have the chance to meet! If you are not able to make it, then let’s be sure to connect online as I take you along to our first food conference!
Stay tuned, there is more to come!
