It’s Day 3 of the Dr. Oz Detox Cleanse and I can honestly say, THANK GOODNESS!
When I set out to try this plan, I thought this will be easy…it’s only 3 days…
Well, for me, I don’t think I could go another day!
I’ve had some folks mention on Facebook that they have done this plan and liked it…others say that if they are in the right frame of mind they enjoy it.
This detox had some pros and definitely some cons. But, first let me share the last smoothie of the plan…the Dinner smoothie:
What’s in this drink?
- Coconut water
- Cayenne Pepper
- Flax Seeds
When this aired on TV, Dr. Oz shared this was his favorite drink of the three options. I personally preferred the Breakfast Drink and would make it again for sure. In fact, for the morning of Day 3, I did not have raspberries and could not find them in the stores, so I substituted blackberries instead. Wow! It was really delicious!!
As I shared yesterday, the Lunch Drink was my least favorite. Not only was the texture a little off-putting, but the taste was just okay. The combo of celery, kale and cucumber was quite peppery. By day 3, I was completely thankful I only had to have this one more time!
The Dinner Drink was my second favorite, but again was just so-so in flavor. I did omit one ingredient…the cayenne pepper…because I don’t like heat.
I did cheat a little.
My body needed protein, so each night I made a small portion (palm size) of lean protein; chicken, egg whites and salmon to have with my smoothie.
Also, I am not a bath person, so I did not partake in the “Detox ultra bath” that was scheduled for the end of each day.
Everything else I followed…the morning tea…the multi-vitamin pack and lots of water.
Do I feel Detox-i-fied?
Actually, yes I do. This plan is geared toward “re-setting” and I would say that it did the job.
Why did I find it so hard?
The cravings for the junk I was trying to rid of my diet were pretty intense. It goes to show that even though I don’t eat a lot of junk food, the hold it has on the brain is hard to shake. But, I did it and feel so much better.
Would I do this again?
Yes, with some adjustments- I’m talking to you Lunch Drink– and I would prefer to do this when the weather is warmer. Cold drinks in the middle of winter for 3 days was not that fun.
