Traveling the last two weeks brought me to NYC to attend The Social Good Summit and last weekend I was in lovely Atlanta, GA to attend the Type-A Conference as part of the photography team. This weekend is set aside to spend time with our oldest who is home from college, and I'm sure he would love to have some apple pie.

The Best Apple Pie Recipe

This is truly the best apple pie recipe you will find. Made with juicy apple filling cooked in butter and cinnamon and added to a flaky pie crust, this is the ultimate dessert!

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 40 minutes
Total Time 50 minutes

Ingredients

  • 6 cups sliced apples, about 6 medium-large** I like to bake with Macintosh, Cortland, and Granny Smith combination.
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 Tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. In a small bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon & nutmeg.
  3. Peel, core, and slice apples. Place in a separate bowl.
  4. Pour flour mixture on top of apples and gently stir to fully incorporate. Let sit for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, prepare 2 pie crusts for 9" pie plate or use store pie crust (available in the dairy section).
  6. Place 1 prepared crust in pie plate.
  7. Cut 1 Tablespoon Butter into 1/4 and place in the bottom of the pie crust (along the edge).
  8. Top with apple filling mixture.
  9. Cut the remaining Tablespoon of butter into 1/4 and dot the top of the apple mixture with butter pieces.
  10. Top filling with second pie crust.
  11. Trim extra dough along the edge.
  12. Pinch both crusts together to seal. Make 4 small cuts on top of the crust to vent.
  13. Sprinkle lightly with cinnamon.
  14. Bake for 40 minutes.
  15. Let cool before cutting.

I love the addition of cinnamon sprinkled on the crust. The more cinnamon the better. Pinning this recipe for Thanksgiving!

Thanks Susi! I don't remember when I started sprinkling with cinnamon, but it adds just enough to the flavor! :) Thanks for the pin!
