My husband and I spent a recent Sunday morning in Saratoga, NY cheering on friends in our running club. They were completing the Saratoga Palio half-marathon on a beautiful, crisp morning. Everyone had a great run, most gaining new PR’s (personal records).
I decided to bring my “good” camera aka: the Canon Rebel to catch those crossing the finish line. It was really fun trying out the sport setting, which has the shutter snap in rapid succession, versus shooting inanimate objects such as delicious food. That is not to say I didn’t seek out scrumptious finds while there- because of course that goes without saying, right?
The race began at 7:30 am, so by 9:30 or so, we were ready for breakfast and a coffee. We headed to one of my favorite places in Saratoga- Uncommon Grounds, where not only the coffee is fresh roasted on site, but they also make their own bagels. My favorite is the everything bagel which are OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD. They are the perfect amount of crispness in the crust, softness in the center, without being “chewy.” Add a cappuccino and it is the ultimate treat.
After getting stuffed on bagels and coffee, we strolled back to the car and I spied these mouth-watering caramel apples through Kilwin’s storefront window. I would have burst through the door to purchase each and every one on the tray, but I was so full I just had to drool as I walked by.
I have also heard of the new store, Healthy Living Market that opened recently at the Wilton Mall. Since we were already in the area, we decided to swing by to check it out. Seems we picked the perfect day as they were having their grand opening celebration! Outside the store in a small roped off area of the parking lot, a tent was set up with a few of the local businesses highlighting their products available in the store.
Tables flanked each side with fun activities such as face painting and a band set in the middle and far end. Scenes of fall surrounded us with pumpkins, leaves and dried flowers.
I found so many great products to try- especially this: Saratoga Peanut Butter…the Adirondack Jack is one I can’t wait to try in a new recipe! Stay tuned….
All in all- it was a glorious Sunday morning, spent in one of my favorite towns, eating some of my favorite foods and discovering new foods to try.
