Look Who’s Coming to (Bloggy) Dinner

This is actually my SIL Thanksgiving table, but it will do.

You may have noticed…the first of the month has come (and gone) and a Blogger of the Month was not announced! I’m sure you may be saying “What gives?”

Well, waaay back when- over the summer I think- I asked A Daddy Blog if he would like to be the September Blogger of the month. He did accept and if I did not have such a crazy packed August, I would have been better at making arrangements to welcome him on September 1st. This will sound so Seinfeld-ish, but it really is true: It’s not you, it’s me!

Because of my non-follow-upping, I want to be sure to give him a proper shout out. Please be sure to visit Michael’s blog and follow him on Twitter @adaddyblog he is a fantastic blogger, wonderful Twitter friend and most definitely worth the read

Then I realized as the 1st came and went, Blogger of the Month is a year old! Wow. That went really fast, didn’t it? We have had 12 fabulous bloggers here and I hope you took the opportunity to visit them.

This led me to my next thought…

You know that question that is sometimes asked “If you could have dinner with anyone living or not, who would you have at your table?”

I decided to set my bloggy dinner table with 12 place settings and surround myself with those that make me laugh with their side-splitting wit, think with their intellectual thoughts and outlooks, and admire all the works of art they have created through clay, ceramic, camera lens, illustrations or words. Of course one common thread that binds all of us is our love of food, so I think I have that covered!

Some of my guests I know personally. One is family, who has life stories & worldly adventures to entertain for hours and one is a dear friend I have known for ten years who is an artist, teacher and mom.

Two others I have emailed many, many times and have had heartfelt discussions about blogging and life and the joy of living in the moment and embracing the good in all. I was so glad that when I met them in person, they were as lovely as I had imagined.

Jill, author of Scary Mommy & I finally meet at BlogHer! She's so pretty!

Alexandra, of Good Day Regular People and I at BlogHer. So, so lovely, inside and out!

Three guests I met last summer; a funny, hardworking mom who understood the schlepping from one sport to the other, a mom who not only writes brilliant words on paper, but captures stunning images through her camera lens and a woman who also pens thought provoking words and photos who not only allowed me to dream but helped me put my dream into action.

Another guest, another talented photographer that tells stories through her images, I met through a contest that could have brought us to the Olympic Winter Games. Instead, we watched from home and shared our joy of true sport unfold on the TV screen.

The next guest had me rolling in laughter the minute I read her first post and has done so ever since. Talented in music and now roller derby, she is a woman I so wished lived down the street from me. I believe I introduced her to our next guest, who I admit is the one guest I do not know very well. I love her commitment to fitness and that she will share all her fabulous recipes. I would take this time to get to know her better.

Rounding out our table are two wonderful ladies. Both have inspired me to keep writing and have given me such sound business advice that I just could never express how appreciative I am for their guidance. I was lucky to have met one in person, and the other will happen at some point I am sure.

This table would be buzzing from the moment we gathered together with conversation, laughter, tears, and pure joy that I am sure would last until the wee hours of the morning. All of these people have made my life richer for knowing them.

Let me tell you, this would be one hell of a dinner party!

If you could have anyone around your bloggy dinner table, who would it be?

** A small note: I will be taking a break for a little while from Blogger of the Month. I am not sure if this will continue as a monthly highlight or become a more frequent item. If you have any thoughts or suggestions, I am all ears. Thanks. **

My “dinner table” in my head has always been a resort. See, I strike it rich, move somewhere tropical, and invite all of my blogger friends over.

I think this needs a post all of it’s own – expect a link in the very near future :-)

I am honored, especially since I have been a bad blogger of late.
