As my age grows closer to my late 40’s, I realize more than ever the importance of health awareness by keeping my body and mind strong through exercise. I’ve always been an active person and for the most part eat a pretty healthy diet, but I know I can do better. That’s why I was really excited to team up with #CollectiveBias and Walgreens to celebrate Women’s Health Month.
Why was I so excited? Well, because I frequent my local Walgreens quite a bit as it is my favorite go-to place to find whatever I need. They are the perfect stop to process pictures-(I did this last year for our daughter’s graduation invitations) and I know the store will be well stocked even if the item is on sale. I knew that to stick to my new healthy habits I would find all I needed in one stop. And I was right!
One of my running goals this year was to earn a membership into the Half Fanatics Club- a community that requires one to run a certain number of half marathons (13.1 miles!) within a set timeframe to become a member. I was reaching to run 3 half marathons in 90 days until a friend shared that another part of the criteria was running 2 within 16 days. Well, I felt this was a challenge I couldn’t pass up! So, in April I ran the More Fitness Half Marathon in NYC, May 4th the Pittsburgh Half and May 17th, the Our Towne Half, securing my spot as a Half Fanatic! My poor feet certainly paid the price with all that pounding of pavement and I needed to pamper them with the royal treatment and I knew Walgreens would be just the place.
In no time, I found exactly what I was looking for….a whole area dedicated to Women’s Health with items like vitamins, moisturizers and protein bars.
I’ve been told I should have more fish oil in my diet, but since I like to eat fish, I’d rather get my Omega-3’s from dinner, but to make sure I’m not missing out on other important vitamins, I grabbed a bottle of Centrum Chewable multi-vitamins.
My husband is a runner too and swears by drinking chocolate milk for a recovery drink after a hard run. I decided to give that a try too and found Muscle Milk on sale. Score! Now to take care of my toes…
I headed down to the beauty section for a nice new shade of pink color polish and was met with such a selection it was hard to choose- but I managed! Then a great little bottle of pump-activated polish remover caught my eye and I grabbed that too. With new polish remover, a pretty new pink and coconut oil, my feet were so ready to get pampered with a home pedicure!
I got home, cracked open a muscle milk, had a vitamin and pampered my toes to the nth degree! Ahhhhh….thank you to Walgreens for always having exactly what I need to keep me happy and healthy!
