I hope you get to sleep in.
I hope you remember to close your eyes and soak in the experience of giggles and hushed whispers creeping down the hall to wake you with a surprise.
I hope you get a bowl of soggy Cheerios or burnt toast for your breakfast in bed.
I hope you cherish the handmade cards, clay objects, decorated frames or whatever trinket your little ones have made for you.
I hope you get to take a leisurely shower or bath and sit in a quiet space for an hour to read a magazine or a book.
I hope you take a walk or play with those special to you.
I hope you hold a hand or two.
I hope you are the receiver of many hugs and kisses.
And when you lay your head back down on your pillow, I hope you smile, knowing that your day was blessed.
Time is a funny thing. It seems to drag, yet move at warp speed all at the same time. You will blink and kids will be taller than you. They will be off to college and only have the chance to call you to wish you a happy day.
So, I am here to remind you- savor every moment. They will pass quickly.
And when you thank the day you get to finally sleep in without interruptions,
I guarantee you will crave soggy Cheerios for breakfast.
