I started this Friday Coffee Talk post with a completely different direction when some very sad news cut in and made me change course. I’ll save what I was writing in draft for a later date and instead, just take some time to reflect and enjoy the moment.
This week had its share of peaks and valleys and had me ever so close to saying good riddance to 2015. It was in these small moments, I stopped to remind myself that time should never be wished to hasten, for it is fleeting already. I realized that my desire for time to speed by was only due to being annoyed. After purchasing a second car in a two-month span, I have to have this week old car fixed. So, I found my time wasted sitting in the waiting area for over an hour and a half.
Then I am reminded that had I been driving a different car three weeks ago, this scenario would be non-existent. This here is a minor annoyance, which allows some perspective.
In a few hours, we are headed to Parent’s Weekend to visit our son at college. I can’t wait to see him. I’m making cookies and bringing a Keurig so he has fresh coffee and a little taste of home every morning.
Enjoy your weekend, hug your loved ones and live in every moment of every day.
**This post is written in the memory of Joan Hayes, of Chocolate, Chocolate and More, a beloved food blogger who passed away suddenly at the age of 49. I had the pleasure of meeting and sharing a cocktail with her in July at the Food & Wine Conference.
