Happy Friday! Every week we set aside space to have a bit of a freeform writing post that focuses on grabbing a cup of coffee and sharing what has happened during this past week. Won’t you pull up a chair and join me?
This week has been BUSY! Like, so- many- balls-in-the-air kind of busy. I think I’ve even made my to-do list cry a little bit each and every day. I donned my new baseball cap and focused on Roost Crate this week and still feel like I’m trying to catch up!
ANCA Buyers Day
Earlier this week, we made our way back to Saratoga Springs, NY for the Adirondack North Country Buyers Day. This is an event that is full of New York Makers and artisans set up for retailers & shop owners to peruse the aisles for fantastic finds. It was this show last year that I went to find vendors to put in the soon to be launched Roost Crate subscription box. At the time, many had no idea what that business model was, and yet took a leap of faith to learn and work together. Returning this year felt like a reunion of sorts- so many items from wonderful folks that we have shared through our monthly boxes!
For instance- this is Mary and she runs Healthy Gourmet Kitchen out of Scotia, NY. I did not meet Mary at last year’s show, but lucky for me, she also has a booth each week at the Troy Farmer’s Market. We’ve teamed up together for a few of our Roost Crate boxes and cannot wait to highlight her tasty mixes in more. She has started making soup mixes and each time I visit, there’s more to choose from! I can’t eat it fast enough! This year, I made sure to stop by to say hello!
I made this Tuscan Tortellini – one of her best sellers- this past week and it is absolutely delicious! I know it will make a debut at some point in a future box.
We met SO MANY other fine folks at the show this year and we are super excited to get our planning caps on to bring them into future Roost Crates! Stay tuned!
Time to Make the Doughnuts
The time change is still hanging on and I’ve had such a hard time getting the jumpstart to the day. How about you? I have always been one to beat the sunrise- but I tell ya, lately I’m rolling out of bed well past get up and go. My goal for next week is to see the crack of dawn at least 3 times and get my to-do list smiling rather than shedding tears.
Maybe next Friday during our Coffee Talk, I’ll make some doughnuts and share the recipe! That’s is a good motivator, don’t you think?
Have a great weekend my friends!
