Welcome to Friday Coffee Talk Part 4
These Friday chats over coffee have been pretty cathartic; I’ve been able to catch you up to speed with our weekly happenings and use this as a mini-brain dump, so, I thank you for coming back each week to read my words, try our recipes and share your story with me. The above coffee photo is from a moment of quiet seized one afternoon while at the Type-A Conference in Atlanta last fall. Just off a little room of the hotel through a glass door, a beautiful zen garden complete with a waterfall and singing birds beckoned. When crossing the threshold, it felt as if entering a secret garden that waited to welcome just you. It was very peaceful and the perfect place to sit a moment, decompress and refocus.
I would love to sit and have a cup of coffee there right now. The week started out great and as we reached Thursday afternoon, seemed to fall apart a little. Nothing that was major, just a bit of toe-stepping-on. It happens and I can adapt to a little encroachment on my space- you know, where lines may blur ever so slightly. I just don’t want to deal with a big ‘ole stiletto heel digging in. Yes, I am being vague on purpose, but for those eyes that may happen to read this, I am watching…
Mother’s Day 5k
I started the week with a Mother’s Day 5k run with my running buddies. I love going to events with these ladies- always fun and always a lot of laughs. It was very hot and humid for a 9:30am race, but nice to run through a local park with a group of women who chose to have fun and fitness to start out their special day. The best part of this particular course was seeing my handsome hubs as he cheered us on while volunteering as a course marshall and to receive a flower from my daughter who volunteered at the finish line. Awesome! Following the race we stopped at our friend’s house for a special Mother’s Day Brunch which was relaxing and fun and full of delicious food!! Yum!
In fact, we made our Easy Fruit Tart recipe to have at the brunch and it was requested for us to “please share the recipe!”, so Monday’s post was a perfect time to do so. Have you made it yet??
My son worked really late on Saturday night, which is why he was not able to come to the Mother’s Day 5k, so we opted to make a soft ice cream run after dinner to spend some time together. The local ice cream stand has a new flavor this summer called Birthday Cake and it is delicious. Adding rainbow sprinkles just sent it over the top.
Brand Partners and An Article Published
Not sure if I mentioned this before, but I was invited to be a part of the blogging advisory board for Fresh Press Media, a fantastic company who is striving to help make monetizing sites easier for those who wish to start making a little income from their site. Every month the advisors write an article to share our collective bloggy wisdom and this week, I had my article The King and Queen Rule Successful Blogging published. Check it out and all the other articles that are there too. Good stuff.
Last but not least, I would love to grow our community and I’m going to ask if you can help! Please share our Facebook Page or give us a shout out on Twitter! We technically have two accounts, so either one will work. Or, if you are on Instagram all day (like me!) then a tag there would be awesome. I encourage you to take your photos with our hashtag #eatpicks so we can feature you!! Thanks for all of your support- I really, really appreciate it!!
How was your week?
