Easy 3 Ingredient Sugar Dates Recipe

You’ve heard of Sugar Plums, but have you ever heard of Sugar Dates? Well, let me introduce you to one of my favorite power snacks! I love eating these as is, but when you add a bit of creamy peanut butter and roll in sugar, it takes this holiday appetizer to a whole other level!

Sugar Dates Are Great Holiday Appetizer

My Sister in Law gets the credit for this tasty treat. She made these as quick bite-sized snacks as we prepared holiday meals.

At first, I thought the combination of dried dates and peanut butter sounded gross, but then I tried it and wouldn’t you know, I couldn’t stop eating them!

During the holidays, she rolled them in granulated sugar which looked fancy and tasted good too.

Dried Dates Are Good For Snacking

I enjoy dried dates year-round, especially as a recovery snack after a run.

They are considered to be the “gold mine” of vitamins, are an excellent source of iron, and are packed with more health benefits than I could list here.

If you are looking for a great holiday snack to add to your appetizer table, then consider serving this dried sugar dates recipe, just make sure you make a lot of them, because once they are tasted, they will go quick!

How Should I Serve Sugared Dates?

Plain dates are great for snacking and to use in foods that require natural sweeteners. Here are some ways I like to use them:

Chop or dice pitted dates and add to breakfast smoothie.

Add diced dried fruit to a salad for a hint of sweet.

Use as a replacement for raisins or make as an add-in for holiday cookies.

Sugared dates taste great in homemade granola or in no-bake protein bites or as delicious chocolate-covered dates that taste like a snickers bar! too!

Bacon makes everything taste good, so try wrapping a plain or sugared date with a warm piece of bacon

Of course, filling them with creamy peanut butter and rolling them in sugar creates a holiday appetizer that looks amazing on the table and will keep guests coming back for more.

Dress up that holiday table or keep a few sugar dates in a zip-lock bag for after your gym workout, or a great snack for that long road trip.

My grandmother taught us how to do this and my kids love them too. I often wonder where it originated?
