Winter can be a very long stretch here in Upstate NY and I often turn to one of my favorite kitchen appliances to help with dinner-my crockpot!
I use my crockpot all year long; it’s great for days that are really busy (we all have those, right?!), days that have the forecast of cold and snow-affording me to have play time with the family-or even in the summer when it is just too hot to turn the oven on, the slow cooker is the perfect kitchen helper!
One of my favorite blogs out there is written by my friend Jennie. She lives in France and I was over the moon excited when she shared she would be traveling to NYC last year for the BlogHer conference- I would get to meet and connect with her! She is an absolute delight…just as I had pictured from reading her blog, A Lady In France and chatting on Twitter.
A while back, Jennie had her recipe for Crockpot Boeuf Bourgignon featured on BlogHer. I was so thrilled to see that! And the fact that it was a crockpot recipe and a dish that made me think of Julia Childs…well, I had to print it out!
It’s been hanging on my fridge for – I hate to say this- months– and yesterday I decided to make it.
It simmered all day in my trusty slow cooker, filling the house with a delectable smell. We could not wait to dig in.
Julia would be proud- Jennie has created a dish that is beautifully simple and one that warms the soul when savoring one bite after another.
