Three years ago, hubs and I took on the challenge of becoming a “Runner of Steel” as we proved our mettle running the Pittsburgh Marathon. If you recall, I had horrible knee trouble and only covered 12 miles for my longest training run. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done and when I finally crossed that finish line, eyes full of tears, it was one of my proudest moments. I’m not sure I could have made it through each mile without the support of my family and the overwhelming cheers and encouragement received from this blogging community.
I had an idea to have you “Claim a Mile” and ‘run’ the marathon virtually. No money involved. Just 26.2 names that would keep me company as my mental cheerleaders as I ran through the streets of Pittsburgh. So many of you responded I had to double & triple names for each mile. It was awesome and so incredibly motivating.
This helped me so much, that I asked you to join me in last year’s Pittsburgh half-marathon (because the body said no-no to 26.2 miles again!) and you came out in full force once again. Thank you!!
On May 5th, hubs and I will be lacing up the shoes for the 3rd year in a row and running the Pittsburgh Half-Marathon.
That’s right! Another 13.1 miles to claim!
Although, this year, there is one exception.
Mile 4 is already taken. It has been set aside to pay tribute to Boston.
Will you help again this year and “run” a mile with me? I would love to have you along for the ride! Again, no money involved, just straight up support.
To Claim a Mile, just leave a comment below with your name & Twitter handle (if you have one) and the mile you would like to “run” with me. You can also tweet me or send a note on Facebook.
We got this!
