I’m not ready.
And it’s freaking me out a little bit.
This is a race I feel the least prepared for…both physically AND mentally.
Two weeks ago I had a twinge in my left achilles. I’ve never had a problem with my heels or ankles- I’ve always had to deal with knee issues. So after my long run I noticed my left foot was achy…I let it rest and then my next run told me the ugly truth. I actually had to stop, literally right where I was standing as the pain was that intense. I slowly started to walk, the pain and stiffness abated…at least until I finished the mileage I needed to log for the day.
Last Friday I had a long run scheduled and in the cold, driving rain, I went out. I felt pretty good until I hit 4 miles. Once again, pain had me hobbling to a complete stop. I walked the half mile back to the house feeling defeated.
I have not run since, purposely taking it easy and walking only.
Today I decided to try again…and after a mile had to stop and walk the rest of the 2.5 miles remaining on my workout buddy app.
I now have two options…
Walk/run the entire 13.1 mile race (which will take FOR-EV-ER), or do I bag it all together and cheer in hubs as he completes his marathon?
That is the question for today.
What say you??
